DIY projects and YouTube
For a car enthusiast a lot of the modifications you can do to your car can become a DIY (Do it yourself ) project. Anything from changing your shift knob, pedals, seats, etc. Can be done at a home garage of course with the adequate tools and knowledge. For the most part tools can be acquired at any shop and having them is very functional but for the knowledge on how to do certain things we have to rely on professionals or people that have done the projects themselves. With the 21st century and the use of the computers in our hands now a days is very easy and feasible to find installation guides on pretty much any item you want to install. You can always refer to text blogs or if you are more of a visual individual we have sites such as youtube.com where finding a video of someone doing a similar install as yours becomes every time more common.
For video installs you can find anything from shift knobs, pedals, steering wheels, body kits, to even full engine swaps. Personally I have found useful some of the videos posted online, they are very relaxed for the most part and it just gives you a sense of how people connect one to another in this modern time. Also not only you can find the installation of a product, but also the performance that you can get of out it , I found countless numbers of dyno runs with similar set ups as the one I have in my car. With this data I could always pick and choose what would be a better upgrade and of course as being part of an “online” community would post back my own videos of the modifications I have done.
